How to print passport photos at Walgreens, CVS or Walmart
A 4x6 print sheet holds six 2 x 2 inch photos. Ordering it as a regular photo print costs far less than a store passport photo service.
Store passport photo services often cost $15 or more. A regular 4x6 photo print usually costs well under a dollar. Our photo makers create a 4x6 print sheet with six 2 x 2 inch photos at 300 dpi, so you can order it like any other photo print. Prices change, so check the store's current price.
Before you order
- Make your photo with the US passport photo maker, child passport photo maker or green card photo maker, then click Download 4x6 print sheet.
- The sheet is exactly 1800 x 1200 pixels, which is 6 x 4 inches at 300 dpi. Do not resize or edit it.
- The State Department accepts photos printed on matte or glossy photo-quality paper. Either finish works.
Ordering online for same-day pickup
- Open the photo section of the store's website or app (Walgreens Photo, CVS Photo, Walmart Photo, or Costco Photo Center).
- Choose prints and the 4x6 size. Do not choose the store's passport photo product.
- Upload the print sheet JPG.
- Check the crop preview. The whole sheet must fit with nothing cut off. If the app offers fit, no crop or full image, pick it.
- Turn off auto-enhance, auto-fix or red-eye correction. Passport photos must not be altered.
- Pick a store and a pickup time. Pay at checkout or at the store.
Using an in-store kiosk
Send the print sheet to your phone or save it to a USB drive. At the kiosk, choose 4x6 prints, select the sheet, and make sure the preview shows the full image with no cropping or borders added.
Cutting and checking
- Cut along the thin gray lines with a paper trimmer or a ruler and a sharp blade. Each photo should be exactly 2 x 2 inches.
- Measure one photo with a ruler. If it is not 2 inches wide, the store cropped or scaled it. Ask them to reprint it without cropping.
- Do not fold, staple or write on the front of the photo.
Common problems
- The app crops the image. Some apps fill the print by default. Look for a crop or edit option and zoom all the way out.
- The colors look different. Turn off auto-correct, and pick up the print during daylight to check it.
- Borders were added. Choose a borderless print. A border changes the photo size.
